Here's an idea for a game.

I'll post a line uttered or printed by someone in some movie, show, or book, and whoever is the first player to guess correctly where it is from, it is their turn to post a reference. If nobody guesses correctly after one week, you can go again or pass your turn on to somebody else.

OK here's mine (I'm going from memory and might be a little off but here goes):

"Cuz back then, it was zing a ways foe shot foe."

I'm not sure I even know what language that is.  Stick out tongue

OK here's a clue: Paul Reiser's character didn't understand it either.

Still a mystery, sorry.

Because instant gratification isn't fast enough.  That's why.

And yet it got stuck in my head...

I might have to reveal it before the week is up. Anyone else?

Are we talkin' about Paul Buchman? Cause that boy never had much of a clue about anything. Laughing

Yup. Big grin

Spoiler (click to reveal):
It's from an episode of Mad About You where, in making one of his documentary films, Paul was watching a videotaped interview with an older gentleman. The older guy said the above phrase, and everybody but Paul seemed to be able to understand what was actually meant. IIRC, it was that only the clubs in Houston would pay cash.

It's repeated at least 5 times throughout the episode, which I've seen more than once.

swampy it's your turn. Smile

Ok, one of my all time favorite lines...

"We all go a little mad sometimes... Haven't you?"

That's easy: Norman in Psycho, played by  Anthony Perkins.

"I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

Peter Finch in Network.

"You can't turn Buddhist. I won't let you chant mantras. It'll wake up daddy."

Hmmm  . . . Fawlty Towers?

 #11   Back to top

Not "Fawlty Towers" but it is from a Brit Com.
 #12   Back to top

Is it from "Are You Being Served?"

Or Keeping Up Appearances?

Ok, here ya go.

You really think that I would let Ed keep bullets in his gun?

I think the character is MacDuff or MacDun or something, but I don't remember the movie.

Would it help if I mentioned that the movie is a retelling of a Shakespearean play and is set in the 70s?

Oh! It had Christopher Walken in it and it was in a resteraunt, but I don't remember the name.

Where does Shakespeare's play take place?

I don't know how much help is allowed so I'll err on the side of generous unless told otherwise.  This movie is rather obscure.
